When we think of Moscow, we get a very weird nostalgic impression in our minds. The dome shaped spire like architecture and the heavy Russian accent is what we reckon. But, what we are not aware is that - Moscow is the world’s most expensive city according to BBC. Let’s check out more details regarding this matter.
This is one of the oldest and & most beautiful Russian cities. Moscow is still the Russian capital (even though Russia is now known as CIS or Commonwealth of Independent states).
You can visit the city either in Summers or Winters. Although, in winters, there’s a lot of snow on the ground.
Within the 900 square kilometers of Moscow city, I am sure there’s plenty you can do!
Where to go & What to do?
* First, check out the Kremlin and the Red Square.

This is the landmark of the Moscow city. This was the center of major political and historical events that changed Moscow and as a matter of fact Russia.
* If you are visiting Moscow in winters, then please drop at the great Russian winter festival celebrated with music and dance at Izmailovo Park.
* If you are into Ballet, you can swing by the Bolshoi Ballet:
Moscow’s Bolshoi Theater hosts both Ballet and theater. I think this would be a great thing to check out.
For traveling throughout Moscow, the best mode of transportation is the underground subway or metro. However, please be advised that crime is a problem in the city of Moscow. So, I would stick to my senses.
Why is Moscow so expensive?
This is probably due to the Russian union breaking up into CIS. The low per capita income is to be blamed for this. Here’s a break up of the costs:
* Apartments in Moscow will cost you $3000
* Coffee: $5.27
* Newspaper: $3.40
* Burger with fries: $3.87
Hiring a vehicle and airport transfers can incur high expenses on the traveler. If you are in Moscow and not underage, do try out the exotic Russian vodka. I am sure you will get wasted in no time. That will make you forget how expensive the city is temporarily till you pay the bar tab.
