If you care for some French wine, French kiss and mirrors check out the Versailles’ Hall of Mirrors at Chateau of Versailles’, France. After about three years of work, the Hall of Mirrors was restored. The Hall contains a whopping 357 mirrors. Wow! I think this is an insane number of mirrors. About the Hall & Renovation The Hall of Mirrors is a 802 square meter of area full of ancient sculptors. This particular architectural masterpiece was constructed during 1678 and 1684. The Hall reflects the French historical past through the paintings on the wall. The treaty of Versailles that ended the World War I was signed in this hall. So, this is the French pride. The renovation was pretty darn expensive and it took about $16 million USD. Why did it take so long and became so expensive to renovate this entire hall? 48 Mirrors of 1820s were broken and replaced. Amazingly not a single one broke during the renovation. Some Thoughts on this Hall Vincent Guerre, the incharge of the renovation job was satisfied. After the restoration of the last mirror, he was very pleased with his team of workers. Guerre agrees: Personally, when I put in the last mirror and saw the work was finished, I was very moved He further mentions: I told myself ‘OK, this is done, but it also means you won’t come here everyday anymore.’ This is a place we would like to spend more time in President of Versailles Jean-Jacques adds: The hall is a jewel that we have inherited, and which we must take care of This newly renovated hall would attract plenty of tourists from now on. There should be more than 60,000 visitors every day! What’s there to see in this hall? Well you could check out the historic mirrors, painting, gildings, and sculptures. Along with a tour of the hall, you can also check out the awesome city of Versailles. The City Versailles was originally a hunting town in France. Louis XIV was the prominent historical figure of this region. With rich history and French culture there’s a lot to do in and around here. You could check out the jaw dropping architectural marvels that the city has. There’s also a dam in the city. If I were you, I would hire a canoe and check out the dam. Also if you feel like taking a leisurely stroll, you can visit the city garden. The unique design of the garden is what attracts visitors here. Versailles can be toured in only three days. People normally go on group tours of the castle mostly and check out the French food and wine at a local restaurant. Priced at 71 Euro per person, you can go on a guided tour of the city with fountains and palaces as major highlights of the tour. I think this is a fairly cheap guided tour. The only major expenses would be booking a flight on a French airliners. So, if you are up for indulging yourself in history, come and check out the Versailles. Oh and don’t forget the phrase ‘Mirror, Mirror on the wall’!
