History lovers, among others have all the more reason to visit Copenhagen this week as the city celebrates Golden Days festival (1st September-10th September) marking the 200th year anniversary of the bombardment of Copenhagen. Focusing on the fateful days 200 years ago (British attack on the capital of Denmark that completely destroyed the original building of the temple) the Copenhagen Cathedral is set on fire. The art installation Copenhagen Cathedral on Fire by the artist couple Thyra Hilden and Pio Diaz better known as ‘City on Fire’ is setting ablaze the minds of visitors. Commemorating the bicentennial of the Battle of Copenhagen the art exhibition inside the Copenhagen Cathedral is giving visitors and citizens a chance to relive those fateful days in 1807 through a wide range of activities. The exhibition is open every night from 8 pm-2 am. But due to special activities in the church the exhibition timings will differ. The exhibition will open at: 11.30 pm on 6th and 9th September. 9.45 pm on 7th September. The installation inside the cathedral consists of the projection of a series of images in video that allowing visitors see how the walls of the building fall in love fire. It’s obvious that magnificent church room going up in flames will spark a heated debate among the public but seeing the Copenhagen Cathedral in flames will make people reflect on the roots of Western culture and the destruction connected with it, a destruction that is closely linked with the civilization even today.
